Polyurethane Foam Making



A Rigid foam is produced after mixing two viscous liquids and the volume of polyurethane Foam is 20 to 30 times that of the original mixture.

  1. Part A (light amber in color) : polyester polyol, a blowing agent, a silicone surfactant, and a catalyst.
  2.  Part B (dark in color) : polyfunctional isocyanate.   
Instrument List:  
  1. Polyester polyol (part A) from Industrial Arts.
  2. Polyfunctional isocyanate (part B) from Industrial Arts.
  3. Stirring sticks.
  4. Plastic cups.
  5. Food color.
  6. Tablecloth.
  7.  Gloves.
  8. Paper towel.

Procedures:  
  1. Wear gloves.
  2. Pour equal amount (i.e. 5 ml) of part A and part B into a plastic cup.
  3. Add several drops of food color.
  4. Stir the mixture for about 2 minutes until the volume begins to increase.
  5. Waiting…
  6. After several minutes, it will become solid.
Applications:
Shoe soles, car seats bumpers, and pipe thermal insulator, refrigerator and adhesives, coatings, furniture and so many other things.
